Vintage West German Pink Fire Opal Glass Cabochon Sew On. These stones are set in jewelry-quality, 4-pronged, open-back, sew-on silver-plated settings (shown) or antique bronze-plated settings. There are 4 holes close to the base of the setting - 2 on 2 'sides'. (Does not include finished jewelry shown as examples). Listing price is for two pieces - the number of pieces in the photos shown is just for variety.
These are approximately 11mm round/48ss and have exceptional color flashes of pink and gold, with a little blue. They have a smooth, shiny dome and pointed, unfoiled backs. I believe these were handmade in the 50's and 60's to look as much like real opal as possible. No two stones are totally alike - pale milky pink glass, with some having more gold, or more pink, or even blue specks. I will do my best to send stones that closely match, but they will not be EXACT matches.
